Privacy Policy
Effective date:
This Privacy Policy applies to the CaloriePace app for mobile devices (the "Application"), operated by Muhammad Jazlan ("we", "us", the "Service Provider"). It explains what the Application does — and does not — do with your information.
We have designed CaloriePace to be private by default. Although privacy and data-protection laws differ by country, we apply the same strong protections to everyone, everywhere, including the rights described in the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), regardless of where you live.
Summary
- CaloriePace has no user accounts, no login, and no server-side database of your personal data.
- Your data — settings, logged meals, weight entries, and calorie targets — is stored only on your device (and, where you allow it, in your own Apple Health and iCloud/App Store account, controlled by you and Apple, not by us).
- We use no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no cookies, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal information.
- The Application connects to the internet only to look up nutrition information when you actively search for a food or scan a barcode.
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information about you. The Application does not gather your name, email address, IP address, device identifiers, advertising ID, location, contacts, browsing or usage activity, session duration, or operating-system details. There is no analytics or telemetry of any kind, and there is no marketing or email functionality. Our App Store privacy label and the app's bundled privacy manifest both declare "Data Not Collected" and "No Tracking," consistent with this policy.
Health data
If you grant permission, CaloriePace reads energy, body-mass, activity, and dietary-energy data from Apple Health (HealthKit) and can write dietary energy and body mass back to Health. This data is used only on your device to calculate your calorie targets and show your history. Your Health data is never transmitted off your device by CaloriePace and is never sent to us or any third party.
Information sent when you search or scan
The Application performs an internet request only when you actively do one of the following, and only the information listed is sent. To keep our data source secure, these requests are relayed through our own service which forwards them to:
- Food text search → the food name you type is sent to USDA FoodData Central (a United States government food database) to return matching nutrition results.
- Barcode scan → the scanned product barcode is sent to Open Food Facts (an open food-product database) to return matching product information.
These requests contain only your search term or barcode. They do not include your name, your Health data, your other app data, or any identifier we create. Our relay runs on Cloudflare Workers, and we keep request logging turned off on it, so your search terms and scanned barcodes are not written to any log. Food results may be briefly cached at Cloudflare's edge, keyed only by the search term or barcode itself — never linked to you, your device, or any identifier — and they expire automatically. Cloudflare acts only as our infrastructure provider, processing the request in transit to deliver it. As with any internet request, connection metadata (such as an IP address) is visible to the services that fulfil the request; we do not build user profiles from it. Please review the privacy practices of USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts for how those services handle requests.
How your data is stored and retained
Because there is no user database on our side, we hold no personal user data and operate no retention schedule. All data you enter is stored locally on your device. It remains under your control and is deleted when you delete the Application (subject to any copies you keep in Apple Health or your iCloud backup, which you control).
In-app purchases
CaloriePace offers a single one-time in-app purchase ("CaloriePace Pro"). All payment processing is handled by Apple. We never see or collect your payment-card details or billing information.
Children
CaloriePace is not directed to children. You must be at least 17 years old to use the Application (see the Terms of Use). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Even though we do not collect your personal information, we honor the following rights for everyone, worldwide: the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, and data portability; for California residents (CCPA/CPRA), the right to know, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share it) and non-discrimination; for the EEA/UK (GDPR), those rights plus the right to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Because your data lives on your device, you can exercise most rights directly by editing/deleting entries or deleting the app. Contact us at caloriepace@mjazlan.com.
International users
The Application is operated from the United States (California). The only outbound requests are the food/barcode lookups described above; they contain no personal data, so no international transfer of personal information takes place.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the Application. Because your data is stored on your own device, its security also depends on your device's security. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
